As part of an effort to better promote the benefits and safety of the low-calorie and reduced-fat food and beverage industry, the Calorie Control Council recently unveiled a redesigned, more consumer-friendly Website. Members of Kellen Interactive spent months reorganizing www.caloriecontrol.org - which encompasses more than 250 pages of content - into a streamlined navigation and content system.
The sleek new design comes equipped with exciting features including: Web 2.0 technologies such as a blog, RSS feeds and online video; a news-oriented content box that highlights top industry stories and provides an interactive news scroll; special sections targeting the media and health professionals; prominently displayed member ingredient pages; and enhanced weight control tools, recipes and calculators.
The site was overhauled using open source software and the integration of jQuery UI and jQuery Cycle. The content management system, powered by Drupal, allows staff to edit existing content, add new content and "tag" content on the Website to appear in related content pages.
The redesign is expected to increase web traffic, while also establishing CCC as a reliable information resource when it comes to weight management, healthy lifestyles and the important role of light ingredients. Established in 1966, the Calorie Control Council represents 40 manufacturers and suppliers of low-calorie, low-fat and light foods and beverages, including the manufacturers and suppliers of more than a dozen different dietary sweeteners, fat replacers and other low-calorie ingredients.
